This month Primary 3 have been really busy learning about Roald Dahl’s ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’ for our novel study. We’ve had lots of fun doing all kinds of activities including writing, debating, artwork, roleplay, hatching fox-catching plans, reading, thinking about how fantastic we are, making posters and much more! We’ve really enjoyed studying this book but soon it will be time to start thinking about our normal reading books again as we finish our class novel.
In December we are having a Community Citizenship focus and we will be linking with Bonnyrigg Parish Church to explore what the church is in a wider sense and what role it plays in the community. We have already been lucky enough to be able to help support a project the church are involved with, through the charity Blythswood. By filling and packing shoeboxes to send to Eastern Europe, we helped to make sure that people not as fortunate as ourselves will get something nice for their Christmas. A big thank you to all the families who generously contributed to this project! The church’s Bowling Club even said ‘Thank you!’ to us by inviting us to the Pitcairn Centre to teach us how to bowl, which we all really enjoyed too.
The other big project for December will be our Christmas show – C H R I S T M A S Spells Christmas. We will be performing this during the final week of term so there’s lots of practising to be done! We’ll be sending home the words for everyone to practise at home so we’d really appreciate your support in this. More details to follow about this soon.
