Welcome back and hope everyone had a great relaxing Easter break and enjoyed the lovely weather. Here’s our latest newsletter with an update on P7 transition, a wedding and much more.
So far ‘Tradey Treats’ has made over £400. Remember, we are open for P1-3 on Tuesdays and P4-7 on Wednesdays at morning break. We still have Geobars and apple juice to sell and soon we will be taste testing some new Fairtrade foods to sell in our shop. P2 and P6 hope to see you there soon!
Later in the term, we will be making a Fairtrade Cookbook. In the meantime – why not practice cooking something tasty using Fairtrade ingredients!
P2 Make the News
As part of their ongoing Fairtrade work, Primary Two have featured in articles in two Scottish newspapers this week; The Scotsman and the Dalkeith Advertiser. The articles show how much work the school has done towards becoming a Fairtrade School. You can read these articles here:
P2 have had a lovely Easter holiday and are now raring to go into the Summer term. We are going to be looking at People Who Help Us and Growing Plants this term. We have just organised ourselves into new teams to work together to complete lots of activities to help us find out about all of the people who can help us. There are lots of people and to start, we are going to find out about the Emergency services. You can find out about what different Emergency people wear by clicking here: http://www.ngfl-cymru.org.uk/vtc/ngfl/ngflflash/isf_97/whatdotheywear/what_do_they_wear.html See if you can match all the clothes correctly! We have also talked about how a lifeguard can help us.
Everyone is very excited about the Royal Wedding this week. We have made some lovely symmetrical Crowns and have carefully written invitations to the wedding for our parents. We also designed our own special plates showing the date that William and Catherine are getting married.
Here’s the latest newsletter. Read all about how you can take part in the parental survey, spring basket winners and much more. Hope everyone has a good Easter break and finally good luck to Miss Donaldson in her new role as acting Head Teacher at Rosewell Primary until the summer term.
The Parent Council are once again holding a Pampered Chef Fundraiser on Monday 9th May at 7.15pm in the school. Please print off the attached form to get your tickets. It’s a good fun night so please support the Parent Council by coming along.
Here’s what P7/6 have been doing in March.
P7 parents are proposing to have a meeting on Monday 9th May at 6pm to discuss arrangements for a P7 leaving disco. The disco has provisionally been booked for Thursday 23rd June 7-9pm in Bonnyrigg Roses Club.
We also thought it would be nice to something on the last day and to arrange a leaving gift.
Hope you can make the meeting as we will need volunteers and your input to make things happen.
Fair Trade Fortnight was fantastic! That was the general opinion of the pupils from P4Y who…
- took part in the Co-operative Smoothie Bike – where they used pedal power to power a smoothie maker
- tasted a wide variety of Fairtrade Fruit and recorded their favourite and least favourite in bar graph form
- found out about the process of cotton making
- prepared individual talks about Brazil, a Fair Trade cotton producing country
- enhanced their geography skills using atlases to map cotton producing countries in the world.
A wide range of skills delivered during finding out about a worthwhile cause.
We have now moved on to our Viking Topic which is also proving very popular with the class and are busy preparing for the Easter Assembly!
Here’s a newsletter from P7 telling you what they have been doing in March.
