Rights Respecting Schools

This year we are hoping to achieve accreditation to become a Rights Respecting School. Last session we created a whole school Charter and we are about to review this work.

Primary 1-7 have been discussing and creating a Class Charter; class rules that tie in with the UN Rights of the Child.  The Class Charter consists of our rights, pupil responsibilities and the teacher’s responsibility.  Each class have worked together in deciding which rights to include in the Charter.

Our Class Charters will help us to make sure everyone enjoys their rights in school.

Children in P4-7 have also worked with Mrs Welsh to create a Playground Charter and these have been signed by all the pupils and are on display in Ochils wing.

Get Set for the Olympics!

Last session our Boys writing club worked on the Olympic values and sports and we were delighted to achieve accreditation as a Get Set School. The special plaque is on display at the front of the school.

This session we are developing this work with the whole school and every month we will have a focus on a different Olympic value. This work links very well with our journey to become a Rights Respecting School.

In September our values focus was Friendship and at the end of the month 3 children from each class were presented with special Olympic certificates to show their achievements with ‘Friendship’.

In October our values focus is Respect. We will find out more about this at our weekly citizenship gatherings.
