We urgently need around 8-10 people to help man stalls at the school summer fair so if you haven’t already volunteered but can help can you please get in touch with Gilly Marshall or any other member of the Parent Council. It’s the support of parents and carers that ensure these events are a success and all funds raised go into the school to enhance your childs education and experience at Lasswade Primary.
Here are the minutes from the last Parent Council meeting. This was quite a busy meeting with a lot of discussion around space in the school and the building in general. Colin Beattie our MSP attended this meeting and he was interested to hear the thoughts of parents. As you’ll also see a lot of work and planning is going into the school summer fair if you can help us with this please get in touch or speak to someone in the school office.
Here’s our June Newsletter with all the staffing information for the new classes next session.
There is some fabulous artwork from Lasswade Primary pupils on show at the Midlothian Annual Schools’ Art Exhibition.
This year’s exhibition showcases the artistic talents of students from Midlothian primary schools. The exhibition features a wide range of art, including painting, design and sculpture and Lasswade is well represented.
The exhibition is taking place now at the Scottish Mining Museum in Newtongrange until Sunday 10 June. Entrance is free and everybody is welcome. The exhibition is open to the public from 10am to 5pm each day, including Sunday.
We are looking forward to the Olympic Torch travelling through Lasswade on Thursday 14th June and are making arrangements to ensure that all P1-P7 pupils can view the torch safely that day. A form has been sent home with information for you.
Children need to arrive at school at 8.20am to allow us time to walk to Elm Row. To enable us to go we need as many adult helpers as possible so if you or someone in your family can accompany us please let the school know either on the permission slip or speak to someone in the office.
Please return your permission slip by Thursday 7th June to allow us to make final arrangements.
You can find out more information about the torch’s route through Midlothian at www.midlothian.gov.uk.
On Friday we held our Jubilee Street Party. All the children had a great day and as you’ll see from the photos there was a lot of fun and smiling faces. A great way to start the holiday weekend.
Don’t forget the school is closed on Monday 4th June for the Diamond Jubilee Holiday Weekend. We hope everyone has a great time whatever you do and will see everyone back in school on Tuesday.
