We ended last term with a very successful Harvest assembly. Primary 2 performed ‘Tattybogle’ for parents, visitors and the whole school. We collected lots of harvest gifts for the Bonnyrigg Senior Forum and thank you to everyone who contributed food items for our assembly.
This term we are looking at ‘The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch’ by Ronda and David Armitage as our Novel study and have been doing lots of work through literacy, art and design and technology as part of our theme.
After the half term holiday, we enjoyed a science Masterclass when we worked with children from primary 2, 3 and 4 in mixed groups to complete different science activities.
Learning outdoors is part of our weekly timetable this session and we have enjoyed a variety of different activities using our literacy, numeracy, art and science skills. We have also begun working with some PE students from Edinburgh College on a Thursday morning. We have enjoyed learning outdoors with them and have been taking part in some Orienteering activities. This will continue on Thursdays until May 2014.
The children in P2/1 have been working with Sophie Renton, a PGDE Primary teaching student from Edinburgh University. Sophie will be with us until the end of November and the children have particularly enjoyed her imaginative art lessons!
We are also fortunate to welcome back work experience student Christie Brown into class this session. Christie previously worked with Primary 1 last session and the children really enjoy working with him in class on a Wednesday afternoon.
