P4x have had a very busy last couple of weeks to this term. In Numeracy, we have moved our focus from multiplication and division to subtraction. To help us practice our skills we made subtraction games and Miss Broad was very impressed with our creativity. Some pupils made board games which used dice and counters, others made a game that used a pack of cards and some even created games with a theme including football and a car race track. Perhaps one of these games will be the ‘Monopoly’ of the future! We have also looked at subtraction word problems all with a festive season twist and had a go at writing some of our own. Here are couple of super examples….
The tuck shop will continue at break on Tuesdays for P1-P3 and Wednesdays for P4-P7 in the New Year. Snacks range from 25p to 60p and there is a variety of snacks and drinks to choose from. This terms favourites have been jully teddies, chocolate smarties and the choc n’ toffee bars.
Our P7 pupils are working well to run the tuck shop and keep stock records up to date.
We hope this success will continue into 2014.

See everyone back at school on Monday 6th January 2014.
The Moscars is a challenge to make a short film lasting no longer than 10 minutes and can take any form. All you need is a good idea and to be willing to work together as a class to turn it into a great short film.
The films will form part of a Midlothian primary school film festival in May 2014 which will be followed by a Moscars evening event in June with different awards being made.
The project will be launched to both classes in January and is expected to run till the end of March.
Further information about the project is attached.
P3 to P7 went to the Lyceum Theatre today to see Charles Dickens’ A Chistmas Carol. It was fantastic and the children thoroughly enjoyed. Especially the Christmas carol medley at the end and the snow! It was magical!
A massive thank you to our office staff for organising the bus arrangements and seating plan and to all the parent helpers who came along too.
What a busy term P6X have had!!! We have now completed the novel The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas with only the DVD to watch in the last week of term.
