P2 News

We have been enjoying celebrating Scotland Homecoming in a variety of ways. This year Primary 2 are looking at the story of The Boy and the Bunnet which was shown at the Edinburgh Festival in 2012. The children have enjoyed listening to the story and identifying the different instruments for each character e.g. Neil is a fiddle, granny is a cello etc.

It has really brought the story to life and some of our activities have included using instruments to make our own sound stories and retelling the story through drama. We have also learnt songs and poems. We are really looking forward to The Scots Showcase.

Primary 2 will also have a visit from The Generation Science to take part in a workshop about Day and Night which links to our topic.

Learning outdoors is part of our weekly timetable this session and we have enjoyed a variety of different activities using our literacy, numeracy, art and science skills.  We have also been working with some PE students from Edinburgh College on a Thursday morning.  We have enjoyed learning different ball skills with them.

We are also very excited about The Reading Challenge which was launched today. During this term we will be reading a variety of books at home and school which we can share and enjoy together.

We hope you can come to The Scots Showcase.

We have a bulb which is growing beautifully in the classroom and hopefully the ones at home are too. We would like the daffodil bulbs brought back in March but will send a not home with a definite date.
