Before the holidays began, we had a very exciting visitor to our classes to launch our new inter-disciplinary learning topic which is about Space. An Astronaut from NASA left us a letter detailing a very important mission which we have since been carrying out. We have been focusing on developing technology skills through this topic by using iPads to record videos, take photographs and use apps to enhance learning. We have been finding out about the Earth, Sun and Moon through a variety of activities including poster making and creating news flashes. This week we are learning about Stars and will be using an app called ‘Skymap’ to look at different constellations. P1Y and the Primary 1 children from P2/1 look forward to welcoming their families to their Assembly on the 7th of March.
In conjunction with our ‘Space’ topic, we have also been busy doing individual talks, reading new books each week and continuing to develop our cursive handwriting. We continue to work on addition and in maths we are enjoying learning about handling data using simple tables and pictograms.
This week we are all looking forward to beginning our ‘Shared Start’ sessions. These sessions will take place on Tuesday and Thursday morning.
