Go Team Lasswade

So here’s the story…. The New Year came about and us teachers were having a good old chat in the staffroom (as we do) about getting fit and giving something back to the community.

What better way to meet these New Year resolutions but to run for charity.  NONE of us are athletes but all enjoy the occasional jog so we’ve come together to run for our school and raise money for a very worthy charity, Maggies.

Fairtrade Assembly

She will deliver two assemblies to the children providing a Fairtrade update, details on the work of the One World Shop and information about a paper-making project in Nepal called Get Paper Industries.

M Factor Scoops National Award

The M Factor won the ‘Scottish Government’s Award for Excellence’ at the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities Excellence Awards at the special presentation in St Andrews on Thursday night. The education team was presented with the award by First Minister Alex Salmond who said that Midlothian’s M Factor Project was an outstanding example of excellence in education – an innovative project where teachers became learners and learners became teachers.

Lasswade Primary took part in this project and both pupils and children should be very proud of their efforts!!!!

Sport Relief 2014

P4 Trip to the Museum

On Thursday 27th February, P4 went to the Museum of Scotland to learn about the Vikings.  First we went to a Viking exhibition led by two pretend Vikings who were called  “Roaring lungs” and “Redhead”. They got our teacher, Miss Broad, to be Odin and made her give lots of silly answers. So when  answering “where do Vikings go after they are dead?” she said “Greggs”. { The real answer being Valhalla}.  After lunch we were given a sheet and we had to find exhibits and answer questions about them in our groups. Some of us got lost but not for long! I liked the burial site. Our last thing was to go to the animal section and have lots of fun. Everyone had a good time and we got back on time.
