P6 Visit Edinburgh Zoo

As part of our Health and Well Being learning, P6 visited Edinburgh Zoo today to take part in the Cycle of Life Programme.

We visited a number of enclosures to see animals, monkeys or birds who had recently had babies.  We heard all about how the penguins mate, how the male and female gibbons are a different colour and why, that the female sea eagle is larger than the male and that a mummy elephant carries her baby for 22 months.

Unfortunately, the weather was very wet which cut our visit short but we did manage a quick visit to see the pandas, Sweetie and Sunshine.  We are hoping that there will be some baby news for them soon too!

Thanks to the parents who accompanied us on the trip today.
