P1 News

Primary 1 have had a busy term so far and are looking forward to getting outside and enjoying the summer sun over the coming weeks.

We have been having lots of fun through our learning in science. We learned about the properties of water  by carrying out investigations linked to freezing and melting. We helped trapped bug prisoners to escape from ice blocks and made ice-cream to explore changes of state. We also made ice balloons and observed them melting over time. Generation Science came to visit and helped us to learn about solids, liquids and gases. We had lots of fun and demonstrated great team work! Over the past few weeks we have been learning about the parts of a plant and discussing what plants need to grow. We hope everybody’s seeds are growing well at home! We have also been learning about electricity and electrical safety.

Primary 1 had a fantastic trip to Jupiter Art Land and were one of the first groups to go inside the Chocolate Room. Everyone enjoyed being outside and groups worked well to create natural art in the style of Andy Goldsworthy. As always, the children were a credit to Lasswade. Well done everybody!

Over the coming weeks we will be focusing on ‘Keeping Myself Safe’ work. We will also learn about the Commonwealth Games. A busy and exciting few weeks ahead as we approach the summer holidays!
