Nursery News

seaside-clipart-k0992106After a great summer, we have welcomed back our returning children and are delighted to meet our new children starting their first term at Lasswade Nursery.

We began the term with our seaside theme, looking at sea creatures through story, song and craft activities.

Outside, we have been enjoying the last of the lovely weather investigating mini beasts and collecting apples from our school orchard. We used our apples to make muffins which we went on to enjoy on One Planet Picnic Day.

The afternoon group have been enjoying outdoor music sessions with our music specialist, Mrs Shirreff and the morning group will have the opportunity for this next term.

We will continue to look at harvesting of other fruits and crops in the fields, with a visit from a local farmer later in the month. We are enjoying printing with the tractors and combine harvesters and are building scarecrows at our craft area.

As Autumn approaches, the children will be looking at the colour and texture it provides, enjoying a family walk in Dalkeith Country Park to investigate the changes further.
