Since the Easter holidays we have been very busy in class with our Financial Focus fortnight when we learned all about coins and notes to £100 and how to give change from £2 and £5. We enjoyed using ICT to help us consolidate this learning.
Our class topic has been Weather and we have been learning how weather impacts on people’s lives, how climate change affects the environment and living things and which instruments record which aspect of the weather. We have had the opportunity to become meteorologists and to use these instruments in our playground. We have used this real life data and the information handling tools we have been learning at maths time to create bar graphs, trend graphs, bar line graphs and pictographs. We also used the internet to check the weather forecast all over the world and to answer questions about the data we collected.
We are looking forward to learning some conversational French in the next two weeks before our final topic this year – Scotland’s Landscape.
There has been a huge interest in the Mini Lasswade’s Got Talent Competition.

Just a reminder to all parents that pupils should refrain from bringing any snacks which contain nuts or any nut products in their packed lunch as we have a number of children who have severe allergies to nuts.
Your support is much appreciated.

Our P1 teachers, Lynsey Binnie and Alison Adams, led a learning conversation at #PedagooPrimary entitled: Using ‘Learning Superheroes’ to develop growth mindsets in the Early Years.
They shared their work on developing growth mindsets in the Early Years through the use of ‘Learning Superheroes’. They drew upon relevant theory and research to discuss how this impacts upon what children perceive a ‘good learner’ to be.
