P2 Term One News

12728119243Jk9IjP2 have had a very busy first term! They have just come to the end of their Harvest topic and have presented their Harvest assembly to their parents/carers and the whole school. Throughout this topic we did lots of exciting activities such as making fruit faces in the style of Arcimboldo.  We have also gone on an Autumn walk around the playground and used our senses to take in the changes in the environment during this season.

Throughout this term we have also focused on different aspects of Visible Learning. We have discussed what makes a Successful Learner, Growth and Fixed Mindsets and the Learning Pit. Lately, we have read the stories ‘The Girl who Never Makes Mistakes’ and ‘Beautiful Oops’ to discuss the importance of making mistakes and realising that we can learn from them. We created our own pictures which started as a mistake and were turned into something beautiful.

Recently, P2 have also started taking part in football sessions on a Thursday morning in association with Tesco Bank Football Programme. This is great fun and the children really enjoy it!

We are looking forward to what next term brings and hope you all have a lovely and restful October holiday.

P4 Term One News

weatherP4 are learning about weather. We are looking at different instruments to measure the weather and learning how to interpret weather forecasts. We are looking at unusual and severe weather around the world as well as weather around the U.K.

We really enjoyed writing letters to various visitors and school staff. Our visitors included Mr Branch, our crossing patrol man, a lady from the SPCA and our school janitor. Thanks to parents for helping our children to learn their addresses. We are now learning to write newspaper reports about the weather.

Our children have been learning to tell the time using both analogue and digital clocks. We are looking forward to the visit from the Dogs Trust. We will be practising budgeting for a dog to help us to understand the costs and responsibilities of looking after an animal. We will also be learning about money.

Our Visible Learning is going well and our children are displaying a good knowledge and understanding of the principles involved.

We are looking forward to next term.
